Subsequent processing of 3D models from MetalFil ™ - Copper

grinding
Model which is printed on MetalFil ™ copper material can be easily brushed with a brass brush or sanded with fine sandpaper. Brushing and / or grinding the extruded object is achieved rough or shiny surface with a high concentration of copper powder.

incorporated polish
After sanding, the 3D model of MetalFil ™ Copper revealing a white coating. It is a very thin white layer on the object that makes it easy to polish your 3D printed objects to the beautiful copper object.

Polishing with a rotating drum
Subsequent processing of the 3D model made of copper MetalFil ™ using a rotary drum turns your printed 3D model of an object indistinguishable from the original building from the cast copper.

patina
You can create several effects on the patina pattern made out MetalFil ™ Copper and only for one day. With soldering fluid you can easily create a beautiful antique green surface appearance of the model as if the copper object exposed to long-term weather conditions.

Waxing and painting
After all the above methods modified model produced from MetalFil Copper can be as wax or paint the surface of the model to achieve a perfectly polished effect. Waxing can be done for example with beeswax and paint can be used, for example XTC product-3D.


Roughness - Abrasivity
Please note that press the strings MetalFil ™ contains a very high concentration of metallic powders that have a natural abrasiveness. In general, the metal powder will accelerate wear of nozzles of brass, which is much faster than the material not containing the metal powder. It is therefore recommended to use nozzles made of stainless steel or other alloys hardened.


As with any other print strings blended with solids, it is recommended to clean the nozzle immediately after 3D printing. Cleaning done by means of pure PLA press the strings with a length of about 15-20 cm. This ensures that any particles of material (metal, wood, ...) will be pushed out of the nozzle area.
